About Home of Craft

Discover. Explore. Support Local.

Home of Craft is a South African platform created to help people discover the makers, producers, places and experiences behind local craft.

From small-batch food and drinks to handmade goods, workshops, tastings, markets and memorable local experiences, our aim is to make it easier to discover what is being created across South Africa — and the people behind it.

Our Purpose

South Africa is filled with talented makers, producers and small businesses, but many are not always easy to discover.

Home of Craft brings them together in one place.

We want to connect people with authentic South African businesses while encouraging travellers and locals alike to explore new places, meet the people behind the products and support local communities.

We believe discovering South Africa should also mean discovering what South Africans create.

What You Can Discover

Home of Craft is about more than finding products. It is about discovering the people, places and experiences that make South African craft worth exploring.

Built for Local Craft Businesses

Home of Craft is designed to give South African craft businesses another place to be discovered — whether you have a physical shop, work from home, sell online, attend markets or welcome visitors by appointment.

You don’t have to fit into one box. Many makers and producers work across different categories, sell through different channels or offer experiences alongside their products. Your Home of Craft presence can reflect what makes your business unique.

From the smallest maker to established local producers, there is a place for great South African craft on Home of Craft.

Discover South Africa Through Craft

Every town, city and region has its own makers, flavours, stories and creative character. Home of Craft aims to make those discoveries easier to find.

Whether you’re planning a road trip, exploring somewhere new or simply looking for something local near home, we want Home of Craft to help you discover businesses and experiences you may otherwise have missed.

Explore the place. Meet the people. Discover what they create.

Why Supporting Local Matters

Behind every locally made product is a person, a skill, an idea and often a small business working hard to build something of their own.

Choosing local helps support South African makers and producers, keeps more value within local communities and helps preserve the skills, creativity and stories that make different parts of our country unique.

Every local discovery is an opportunity to support someone who creates, makes or shares something worth discovering.
